Project Life® – weeks one and two

pl-week-1-and-2-close

Here we go with another year of Project Life®. I am happy to be doing this again although I have needed a push to get photos printed and layouts made. I am sure I’ll get into the groove again.

Just a quick reminder about my Project Life® process. Generally I am doing one page per week. That worked well last year although there were several weeks where I either made a spread for the week or added a 6 x 12 page, I still only had one album for the whole year. That is my aim. One album only. I’m using the American Crafts three-ring 12 x 12 binder again in ‘Cardinal’.

There’s a note at the bottom of this post which sets out the core kits I have on hand and I will use up any other embellishments from my stash as I go along.

Okay here are the first two weeks.

pl-week-1-and-2-

I combined the two weeks together under one ‘date’ as I had hardly any pictures! I think I was all December-ed out. You can see that the left side 3 x 4 spots are blank. I haven’t finished the title page yet but I’m pretty sure they are going to be clear with maybe the year spread over the four pockets like you see here.

Little details – I added a border of silver star washi tape to the edge of one 3 x 4 journal card and stamped some arrows on the other journal card which I also typed onto using my wonderful old-fashioned typewriter.  ( I really don’t mind the uneven leading on the typing it all adds to the real-ness.)

I am also going to try to put together the two weeks pages at the same time and make them as cohesive as possible, colour wise anyway.

And there we go.

Project Life® – the last of 2013

pl-dec-1

I condensed the rest of the year into three pages. I have the December Daily album that covers this period

pl-dec-a

pl-dec-b

I played about with a see through element and ended up using some very old metal letters in the middle 3 x 4 pockets. I stitched top and bottom to keep them in place.

pldec-c

I was rather pleased with myself when I snapped the photo of the words ‘adventure continues’ It was part of a larger window sign and I knew I could use it as the end photo to this years album. So I just added the word ‘the’ and a few ….. in Photoshop before printing.

pl-dec-last

There were quite a few things that didn’t get into the album so I tucked them into a couple of pockets at the back. They included our birthday cards and a few other bits like the strip of paper my niece made saying how much she loved us! And of course her handprint.

pl-extra

And that is it. Loved doing this again and using one page for most weeks made it fit nicely into one album.

Project Life® – week 44 to 47

pl-first

Here we go, almost done for last year.

4th to 10th November.

pl-4-10-nov

And the next week. I have kept recent weeks down to just one page. That little card with the ‘Sometimes you ….’ has the writing on the inside. I added a teeny part of a label that was weft over and stamped that dragonfly on it and finished with a strip of black spotty washi tape.

pl-11-17

I managed to get all the sizes of my photos mixed up. I thought I had done just 4 x 6 and 3 x 4 but most came out smaller so I had to add in lots of backgrounds for the pictures to sit on. I like how it turned out though.

pl18-24

Lots of different things going on this week and more use of my new old typewrite!

pl-25-1

Back with the final month soon.

Project Life® – week 41, 42 and 43

It seems like everyone in the Project Life® world are getting on with their title page for 2014. I shall get there but I have these three weeks to share first which bring my completed album to the beginning of November.

Still mixing up weeks, some a single pages, some a double.

pl-14-20-11

I realise I have a big blank spot there on the bottom of the left page. Hadn’t formulated the thoughts but wanted to get these weeks posted. I will go back and fill it in soon.

That spread is followed by two weeks that are single pages.

pl-21-27-10

pl-28-10-03-11

Although I admit I am a little weary with completing last years album I still intend to carry on this way of memory keeping in 2014 and am going to get working on the title page for that soon. I adore all the inspiration out there right now and there are lots of layouts over here.

I must admit that I am drawn to Elise’s style in her title page. She talks about it more here. Just love the collage effect although of course you could achieve this with squares too.

I shall be back to share the title page of 2014 and some thoughts on 2013’s Project Life® album soon.

Have you started yet?

Project Life® – week 39 and 40

pl-wk-39-close-up

Week 39. We went away for a weekend in London this week which spilled over onto the following Monday. I had lots of photos so added a 6 x 12 page into the middle of the spread.

The left page are the days we were at home. And the 6 x 12 right page is the start of our trip.

pl-week-39

I just adore the Amy Tangerine Yes Please transparent letter stickers. I put the ‘London Calling’ on the outside of the page protector as and introduction to the weekend. Here it is again.

pl-wk-39-close-up

And this it the next page. I used a different page protector for the right of this spread.

plweek-39-1

It doesn’t bother me that I have Monday from the next week in here as it was all part of the trip it seemed a natural thing to do.

And back home for week 40. I amended the dates of the week to show it was from the Tuesday rather than the Monday. The letter stickers here are Jilli Bean Soup in navy.

pl-week-40

And back to just one page for this week. Again I am okay mixing up the layouts. Some weeks need a double page and others just don’t and I don’t want to fill up double pages just because. It’s good to vary things a little.

Project Life® – week 37 and 38

pl-close-up

So here we are with more weeks and I kept them simple.

pl week 37

I like things running off edges too. As there wasn’t room for the whole of this September card I just fit the relevent days on and trimmed off the rest.

pl-wk-37-close-up

And week 38.

Project Life® – the rest of week 35 and week 36

plwk-36

I’ve just had a look back at the weeks for florida and I was surprised with how much I like the simple look. Just 4 x 6 photos and journal cards. Hmm…. might have to try this more in the weeks to come. There really is no wonder Becky has been so succesful with this way of memory keeping.

For now though I’ll have to use the photos I have printed which are all shapes. I seem to have made an error last time I put my order in as most of the 4 x 6 photos have needed trimming at each edge so I have had to use a card to back them. ANyway here we are with the rest of our holiday week after we returned home.

plwk-35-jpg

And then week 36.

plwk-36-1

The double page spread is still around. I’m okay mixing it up and using single or double pages depending on how much I have to say and how many photos I have.

Back next week with more of the same!

Project Life® – Florida weeks

pl-florida4

For our weeks in Florida I kept it really simple. It was hard to make myself only choose one photo for each day but I know I’ll be making plenty of regular 12 x 12 pages so don’t need to go into too much detail in the Project Life® album. Just a snapshot.

pl-florida

Gav adored his 4 x 4!

pl-florida3

pl-florida1

Using 3 x 4 cards from the Honey edition I wrote a little from each day, added a day of the week and called it good. Actually loved doing it super super simple.

pl-florida2

pl-florida5

And that completes weeks thirty-three thirty-four and half of thirty-five.

Project Life – week thirty one and thirty two

pl-week-31-1

A big stack of photos arrived and in the mix of holiday ones were a few weeks for Project Life® so I got going and completed a couple of weeks.

An ordinary week with lovely sunshine and produce starting to come in from the garden.

pl-week-31

Week thirty-two was the last full week before we went away. There is a checklist that Gav and I had been working on for a couple of months tucked right into a 4 x 6 pocket and some photos of the pre-holiday lunch at my sisters.

pl-week-32-1

I am just loving the Project Life® kits. Just. Love. They make it easy and speedy to coordinate and the sentiment cards are adorable.

pl-week-32

And there we have another two weeks done.

Project Life – week twenty nine and week thirty

pl-wk-29-1

So  more catching up. Loving the core kit. I added some of the Seasons cards in this week too.

pl-wk-29

Another double page spread. I saved the tags from a t-shirt I bought at White Stuff and attached one of them right onto the page along with its cute orange and white twine. The other piece already had a little cut in it so I slid it over the edge of the card. You can see them close up in the top photo.

Week thirty. Back to one page.

pl-week-30

But still loving the transparent Amy Tangerine letters.
