Month: December 2018

Photo a Day – Week Thirty Five and Thirty Six

Another catch up….

I’m on an eco friendly mission at the moment. It’s a minefield. We do lots of stuff in our house that is good but always trying to be better. Our vegetables come from an organic box scheme. It was the original box scheme in the UK called Riverford. The nets they use are completely compostable no plastic in sight. I was celebrating that in this photo! Plus I love a Clementine.

Adore, adore, adore.

A little winter arrangement Gav put together.

Eggnog latte……. mmmm.

Frosty morning.

Found this beauty.

Home made. Another way to cut out the packaging and know exactly what you are eating.

The saga of this quilt continues……. Trying to hand quilt some of it as my machine quitling wasn’t working. That or my basting was rubbish. This hobby is a labour of love!

We had avocados to use up so a mid-week special breakfast was in order.

Took a trip out looking for bracken….. as you do! Wanted some for a winter wreath.

And here is said bracken.

Another quilt in progress…. and my helper.

Time for the Christmas bedding.

A twinkle of sunlight.

And there we go.

December Daily® – Day One and Two

At the start of the month I thought it might be tricky to get this album made day to day but it has been more of a challenge than I thought! December always does it to me. But with the hectic and rushed comes the good too I just need to keep reminding myself about that.

Anyway here is day one and two.

As you can see I wrote about my feelings for the spirit of Christmas on day one and the traditions that get the month going. If you recall the only prep for this day was the white page base and the number ‘1’. That starburst circle is actually the negative bit from an Ali Edwards sheet of silver die cuts. I backed it with more white card and added a one on top.

I’d gone along to the local photo shop last Saturday, the 8th, and printed a weeks worth of pictures. All 4 x 6 some portrait and some landscape and all taken with my phone. The above photo was a portrait one so I cut it down to fit the page which is about 5 x 7. Love having the photo run up to the edge of the page on the right hand side. The words strip is also and Ali design from a past December Daily kit.

Day two was changed from the original which looked like this.

I wanted to include the snow globe because it’s sooooo cute so I cut it out of the paper and simply adhered it to my photo.

I added a tab page turner on the right and wrote (rather messily!) my words on the mirror in the photo. All about another wonderful tradition, girls crafting day.

Hoping your holiday season is going well and will be back soon with more.

Bloom 2018 – Sumptuous Sunflowers

Just popping in to share a little beauty from the summer.

Sunflowers and Rudbekia with a few Ammi, Scabious and Ivy stems. Love how they work in that sweet vase I bought for 99p at the charity shop. It has more than earned its keep this year. Also like how the whites work in the arrangement alongside the bronzy tones. Good to try new combination.

December is flying by……it always does. I still have to get working on my December Daily! But the house is almost trimmed up so there is something done.

Photo a Day – Week Thirty Three and Thirty Four

Catching up…..

All about the light this first week.

The off we went northward bound to the cottage.

Never photographed a whole rainbow before! I took a panorama which is why the fence at the front looks slightly ‘off’.

Guess the wind blows around here…

My favourite castle ever.

Love that pooch so.

Oystercatchers.

A little sun at last.

Delish cream tea.

I opened the curtains on our last morning and saw that it wasn’t cloudy. Bud and I dashed down to the beach and were rewarded with a sunrise.

Back home and I found these pretty Cherry tree leaves.

And there we go. Still have several weeks to catch up so probably be back with more later this week.
