It would be wrong to break with tradition! So I’ll say what I always say at this time of the year…… the most wonderful season is soon to be upon us and I am joining in the fun and making a December Daily® album once again.
This marks my ninth year! I signed up for Ali Edwards Storytelling with December Daily® class again. The content is the same as last year more or less but I loved the class and got so much from it I thought taking it again live would be the best option. So far, so inspired!
I adhered kraft cardstock to a couple of sturdy cardboard pieces and began by embossing the stars on the cover. I used white embossing powder.
The original pin is quite dreamy and soft so I didn’t emboss all the stars and kept some as white Stazon ink to give a different texture and look to the tree.
I tried out various ribbons, twine and embellishments before settling on that lovely red ribbon that was on a Christmas gift last year.
I removed the velum insert of that metal rimmed tag and added the ’25’ from a set of American Crafts Thickers and stamped the 2016 which is from an Ali Edwards stamp set.
I wanted something else on the design and thought that some kind of representation of a tree trunk would look good. Unfortunately I messed up my stamping and it didn’t turn out quite right so I just added those good old teeny rub ons for our initals, some little gems in clear and red and called it done.
The ribbon is tied inside the album cover.
Before I began the heat embossing I wanted to test a patch to see how much the paper and cardboard warped with the heat. So I stamped on the back cover to see if it stood up to the heat gun.
The photo is a little blurry but the test worked and there wasn’t any warping.
Happy to have this project started once again.
